Phylum

The third class of taxonomy (out of 8), above class and below kingdom. Traditionally, in botany, the term division has been used instead of phylum. It is a broad classification but it splits kingdoms into multiple groups. In the Plantae kingdom, there are about 14 groups.

There are currently eight classifications but plants use only seven.
